Bob Casale, often known as "Bob 2," was an American musician and a founding member of the influential electronic rock band Devo. Born on July 14, 1952, in Kent, Ohio, he played guitar and keyboards for the band, contributing significantly to their distinctive sound characterized by synthesizers, unconventional song structures, and a satirical take on modern society. Devo gained prominence in the late 1970s with their debut album, "Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo!" (1978), which included notable tracks such as "Whip It" and "Satisfaction." Their innovative approach to music and performance art, exemplified by their iconic energy dome hats and de-evolution philosophy, left a lasting impact on the new wave and post-punk movements. Casale's contributions to Devo helped shape the band's unique identity, blending rock with avant-garde elements. Beyond Devo, he worked on various projects, including production and sound design for films and television.
